Mission:
The mission of the VP Engineering is to collaborate with our CTO in establishing and leading an engineering team that fosters the growth and empowerment of exceptional software engineers, enabling them to produce the highest quality work of their careers.
Profile & Experience:
- Demonstrated expertise as a highly skilled generalist backend engineer; while specialization in specific technologies is beneficial, it is not a requirement.
- 5+ years of experience in leadership roles within engineering, such as CTO, VP, or tech lead, with a focus on either excelling as a high-performing individual contributor or guiding and mentoring others.
- Maintains a close connection to individual contributor work or has a strong inclination towards it, retaining direct responsibility for contributing to significant portions of our product roadmap.
- Comfortable navigating business contexts, translating commercial objectives (e.g., achieving a target gross margin) into strategic and tactical initiatives for the product and engineering teams.
- Familiarity with the commercial aspects of enterprise collaborations, such as solution engineering, and/or experience with customer relationship management from an engineering perspective.
- Proficient in leading and participating in recruitment efforts, including conducting technical interviews and evaluating candidates for cultural fit; exposure to various assessment methodologies like top grading is advantageous.
- Possesses a senior mindset, prioritizing aspects like appropriately scoping work, fostering team development, and optimizing individual and collective effectiveness over perks like hoodies and unlimited PTO.
